Installations made easy to understand by flooring contractors

The first step to installing brand-new wood floors is actually to remove all of the old flooring present. Every trace of the old flooring needs to be removed, and in some cases, the old sub-flooring as well. The sub-flooring in a home can consist of a layer of wood as well, or some other substance.

If the sub-flooring does not pass a moisture test, then it is either removed or modified so that the moisture content can reach an acceptable level. If the moisture content is not satisfactory, then the entire installation can be put in jeopardy. Once the sub-flooring is taken care of, the new floor is installed above it.

The method of installation differs from company to company, but the basics remain the same: the floor is installed with nails, glue or staples. The planks of wood are designed to fit into each other, like a big puzzle.

Once the floor is installed, the wood is stained if the client has chosen an unfinished wood, otherwise it is coated in polyurethane. The polyurethane helps preserve the stain as well as the condition of the floor in later years. Once the polyurethane dries, the floor is revised for anything that’s not up to our standard and fixed. After the inspection, your floor is ready to be walked on again. You also won’t have to worry about any damaging residue or smelly fumes after the installation, because we handle and dispose of all potentially harmful chemicals in a safe, eco-friendly manner.
